Befriending and Buddying Service

Befriending and Buddying

Our telephone and face-to-face befriending services can help tackle feelings of loneliness, offer the opportunity to connect with someone who shares similar interests, help to build confidence, self-esteem and structure and allow people to feel more connected to their community.

Befriending

This service is for older residents of Rushmoor who are socially isolated at home and miss having a regular chat with someone.  We have a wonderful team of Volunteer Befrienders, who can provide a weekly telephone call, or visit at home.

  • Befriending visits/calls are a free service
  • The Volunteer Befriender will visit on pre-arranged days and times
  • The visits are informal, positive and provide friendly company and conversation
  • Befrienders are trained volunteers with Rushmoor Voluntary Services

Buddying

We also have a Buddying scheme, where a volunteer can accompany a resident on a number of planned trips into town, or to a social group, to help rebuild confidence and independence.

  • Buddying is a free service
  • All arrangements are made directly with Rushmoor Voluntary Services
  • A Volunteer Buddy will accompany a resident for an arranged trip and see them safely home, or on to the transport that has been agreed

The aim is that after some initial support the resident will feel able and happy to go out on their own again and re-connect with the local community.

The Befriending and Buddying are free services available for older residents of Rushmoor
who find themselves feeling socially isolated at home and would appreciate some company and conversation.
