Toolkit 5: Recruiting Young Volunteers

Guidance on Recruiting Young Volunteers

Young volunteers are the volunteers of the future. Many organisations comment on benefits of young volunteers such as their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and grow, relating well to the clients they support, and bringing in unique skills and perspectives.

Plus, investing in young volunteers now is investing in volunteers of the future. Once they turn 18, they may decide to remain with you as a volunteer and be able to take on more responsibility. Fostering their sense of care for the community from this age may even lead them to choose to begin a career with your organisation or apply the skills they’ve learnt to benefit our communities in other ways.

Supporting Documents

We have created several documents to support you to recruit and manage young volunteers legally, ethically and efficiently.

If you have any feedback on the documents, including questions that are not answered and updated legislation, please email volunteering@rvs.org.uk
