Rushmoor Community in Bloom and Rushmoor Rotary Club, want to support the next generation of gardeners. We know many schools in the borough already include gardening in their schools’ activities, providing homes for wildlife, growing food and creating sensory environments.
This year’s theme is 🌱 Grow Your Own Lunch! 🍽️🌿
This year we want to encourage our young gardener to Grow Your Own Lunch, an exciting journey where YOU become the farmer and the chef! This competition is all about growing your own fresh, delicious food—from tiny seeds to tasty meals! 🥕🍅🥗
🌿 Plant it. Care for it. Eat it! Whether it’s crunchy carrots, juicy tomatoes, or fragrant herbs, every plant you grow brings you closer to a homemade, garden-fresh feast!
📖 Keep a diary of your gardening adventure—write about what you planted, sketch your growing veggies, and snap pictures as your plants sprout, flourish, and get ready to eat!
🏆 The best gardens and diaries will be celebrated, so dig deep, have fun, and watch your lunch come to life—one seed at a time! 🌍💚
Get growing, get munching, and let’s make our own lunch from the ground up! 🍽️🌱✨
We are keen to see as many school gardens as possible. It doesn’t need to be a work of art; we love seeing what the children have created and hearing how they have been involved in the project.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to children up to the age of 11 in the following educational settings
Entries must be received by Friday 13th June, 5pm.
Judging
The judges will be looking for a garden with a variety of edible plants that the children can make lunch from. We know fruit and vegetables will be ready to harvest at different times of the year. Judging takes place in July, so it is important to keep a record of your gardening journey to share with the judges. It doesn’t have to be a work of art; we just want some pictures of the plants you have grown and the children’s input into telling the story of the garden’s development. Of course, we would love to see pictures of the children preparing and eating the lunch they have grown. The judges want to talk to some of the children involved in the garden to understand how they have been involved in the creation and ongoing care of the garden.
