Across 2025/2026:  

  • 18% of people aged 16+ engaged with formal volunteering at least once a month in the last 12 months. 
  • 25% of people aged 16+ engaged with informal volunteering at least once a month in the last 12 months. 
  • 46% have volunteered informally over the last 12 months, such as shopping; cleaning; transporting; voluntary childcare; and writing letters, for neighbours or friends who would otherwise not be able to do so.  
  • 55% of those aged 16-24 volunteered at least once across the last 12 months  
  •  23% of Rushmoor residents volunteered formally at least monthly, and  21% informally  

 

In 2025, 151 Rushmoor residents started volunteering just through our website www.volunteernorthhants.org – that’s almost 3 new volunteers a week!   

It’s clear to see why so many people choose to volunteer – volunteering changes lives, for those who volunteer and for those who benefit from the service.    

  • Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, depression and anxiety, as well as helping you stay physically healthy.  
  • 84% said volunteering gives you confidence  
  • 77% said volunteering reduces isolation
