Volunteering changes lives – for those giving and those receiving. Four in five volunteers at major charities say their volunteering improves their own wellbeing (Civil Society).
In England
- 16% of adults (around 7–7.5 million people) volunteered formally at least once a month in 2024 (GOV.UK).
- 24% of adults (around 11.2 million people) gave their time informally – being good neighbours, helping friends and family, or supporting their community (GOV.UK).
- A 2025 report by Civil Society highlights that 32% of 16–24 year‑olds in the UK had volunteered in the three months leading up to March 2024—up from 21% in 2012.
- Even more people are volunteering in Rushmoor in 2025 – almost 3 per week on average, just through our website!
