What we do

The benefits of gardening include reducing depression and anxiety, promoting recovery from stress, and helping people to develop social relationships. Gardening can offer these benefits by providing a distraction from everyday stresses and demands, by immersing people in nature, promoting physical activity, encouraging social interactions, and providing a sense of purpose and meaning.

Allotments

On a Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 1:15-3:15pm we do light gardening such as growing, harvesting, weeding and watering when needed. We alternate between the Aldershot or Cove Green Allotments as we look after plots on either site.

Garden Tidy-ups

Thursday all day we do garden tidy-ups in various gardens in the community.

In the morning we generally look after several public gardens in Rushmoor, and in the afternoon we focus on giving back to the community by tidying up private gardens for people who are no longer able to do so themselves.

This involves more strenuous garden work such as cutting back overgrown greenery, strimming, mowing and general clearing.

New Skills

We are all learning new gardening skills together as we go along.  There is always opportunity to attend workshops and improve our individual gardening knowledge.

Other

We always make time to have lots of fun, going on outings to Wisley and other gardens, fundraising and taking part in community events.
