Support Accessible Gardening at FRAG

We need an accessible compost toilet for our community garden, so we can run wellbeing projects like Blooming Minds all year round.

Green Social Prescribing

RVS has been running the Blooming Minds programme, a nature-based approach to support adults in our community who are struggling with their mental health.

“Blooming Minds has opened up the world and I don’t have to feel on my own”

Blooming Minds helps people improve their physical and mental wellbeing through regular, structured activities in a green space. Backed by the NHS, this approach is becoming increasingly recognised as a powerful way to promote recovery, reduce isolation, and build confidence.

Green spaces like FRAG provide a safe and supportive environment where people can connect socially, make friends, and learn practical skills. These experiences build independence and self-esteem — essential building blocks for long-term wellbeing.

Blooming Minds has already made a real difference. Here’s what some of the people who have taken part say about their experience:

  • “The biggest difference this programme has made to me is the social aspect – meeting new people which was always a challenge for me. Everyone has been so lovely and I look forward to coming to the sessions each week rather than finding it difficult.”
  • “I look forward to enjoying being part of a group, getting out in the fresh air and meeting new people”

Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of adults in the Rushmoor community by offering a welcoming, accessible, and fully functional space where they can feel safe and supported.

Redeveloping FRAG

Over the last two years, Rushmoor Voluntary Services have redeveloped our Farnborough Rotary Accessible Garden (FRAG) with the help of supported volunteers. We’ve even taken on an additional allotment plot to grow fresh vegetables, donating any excess to local food banks as a way of giving back to the local community.

We’re proud to share that we’ve completed major groundworks, including:

  • Resurfacing pathways for better accessibility
  • Installing permanent compost bins
  • Constructing a lean-to workspace and pergola
  • Building a new access ramp to the main site
  • Repairing the roof and improving drainage

What We Need Now

We’re ready to make FRAG a true home for Blooming Minds and open the site to other green wellbeing programmes — but there’s one final step.

To run the Blooming Minds sessions at FRAG all year round, we urgently need to install a dry compost toilet. Until this essential facility is in place, we cannot hold wellbeing sessions on site for more than two hours at a time.

Your support will directly help us complete the final piece of the puzzle — making FRAG a truly accessible, inclusive, and life-changing space for those who need it most.
